Mariyam Sattar

 Mariyam is a self taught, mixed media artist from the UK. Her work is largely abstract and made using hand embroidery and acrylic paint on canvas. Mariyam creates art intuitively and each piece is inspired and guided by her imagination.

Mariyam has been painting from a very early age and she took up hand embroidery as a mindfulness practice as a teenager. The therapeutic aspect of painting and embroidery is important to her. Incorporating the two media is intricate and this adds a delicacy to her work. Mariyam continues to experiment with different patterns, textures and embroidery techniques to create unique original artwork.
