Adriana Miranda

Adriana Miranda, age 25, was born in Phoenix, AZ, into an artistic family. She studied Fashion Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, but continuously felt a pull to embrace the fine arts. She now specializes in mixed media painting. Inspired by the deconstructionism of Basquiat and the politics of fashion, Adriana paints stream-of-consciousness dialogues meant to evoke intimacy, vulnerability, and familiarity.

Adriana's 2021 work centers itself on unfiltered, raw emotion. Adriana worked hard to decide on a topic for each piece and then paint undisturbed streams-of-consciousness to capture her most vulnerable and honest self. Each piece can be interpreted as a self-portrait or a diary entry. Authenticity's hold on Adriana comes from her father's most repetitive parenting moments during her upbringing. Genuine brilliance and hard work were expected, and so they were instilled in Adriana's approach to art from a young age. At the age of fifteen, she was introduced to the work of Jean Michel Basquiat and felt an overwhelming spiritual bond with him. Basquiat's deconstructionism and his power to be both bold and secretive at the same time inspires Adriana endlessly.
